About Seth

Seth Hammons was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1980, where he spent his youth swimming in the neighborhood pool, popping tar bubbles on his street, and surviving heat stroke. After his parents held him back in Kindergarten, Seth vowed he would get even by graduating high school early, which he did.

It was around this time when he was introduced to his first novel.  Faced with being stuck in the back seat with four younger siblings on a twelve-hour car ride, Seth accepted a book offered by his grandpa to pass the time.  The family vehicle hadn’t quite crossed the Ohio state line when the first unwitting character in Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park was mauled by a dinosaur.  Seth was irrevocably hooked.

Despite developing a healthy appetite for reading, Seth initially held the fantasy genre in contempt.  This disdain was dispelled shortly after Seth found a coworker reading a crushingly thick novel, Lord of Chaos.  The coworker was so convinced that Seth would enjoy the Wheel of Time series that he lent Seth the first several books.  After devouring all of Jordan’s works, Seth began to mix other fantasy novels in with his usual Michael Crichton, Tom Clancy, and John Grisham.  Currently, he is making his way through Nora Robert’s “In Death” series.

Seth began attending college at fourteen years old.  After three years of college and much to his parents’ chagrin, he dropped out of school and began working full-time in the foodservice industry. While perhaps not the wisest choice, this decision turned out for the best, as it not only gave him a great appreciation for the hard work of others, but also led him to his wife, Crystal, a co-worker.

Throughout his life, Seth has been fascinated with music. He sang professional opera when he was a child and was in a show choir in his formative years. Despite having a talent for singing, he never learned to play an instrument with any aptitude nor can he read music; a misfortune he hopes to help others avoid.

Seth currently lives in Lewisburg, West Virginia (Coolest Small Town in America) where his wife, an officer in the United States Army, is attending medical school. Together they have three children—Serenity Moiraine, Courage Lan, and Wisdom Nynaeve—whose first names are taken from the Serenity Prayer, and whose middle names are taken from the Wheel of Time series by the late Robert Jordan, which Seth read to Crystal during their courtship and engagement.
